ARCHITECTURE / MUSEUM
Co-designed by architects Joe Shih and Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate Shigeru Ban, Tainan Art Museum Building 2 stands as a distinctive cultural landmark in Tainan. The design draws inspiration from the flamboyant Delonix regia, with its striking pentagonal form that reflects the essence of the city. The building’s layered exhibition spaces and the expansive fractal roof are among its most defining features, seamlessly blending modern aesthetics with local cultural elements.

The sharp contrast between modern architecture and traditional Tainan houses makes the city more cultural.
The design of this piece engages each visitor in a unique dialogue with natural light as they move, offering a captivating immersive experience within this underground space.
The large pentagonal fractal canopy, crafted with a geometric structure, creates beautiful light and shadow patterns that resemble sunlight filtering through leaves.
“Shadow In Motion” Designed by 原研哉. This art installation consists of three rows of thin aluminum panels, each slowly rotating while continuously aligned. Its unique design turns each panel into an optical device that adjusts the direction and intensity of light reflection.
